The identified cultural heritage site “G.E. Broydo’s Tenement House”, 1902, architect N.I. Zherikhov

Description:

The cultural heritage site is designed in the early Art Nouveau style. The decorative elements are quite diverse and refer to different directions of the new style that was emerging at that time. The facades are made with characteristic smooth lines and rich stucco decor with plant and animalistic motifs.

The history of the construction of this house began in May 1902, when the heirs of P.F. Osetrinkina sold their property to the candidate of commerce German Efimovich Broydo.

The purchase and sale transaction was completed on May 10, 1902, and already on May 27, 1902, Broydo filed a petition for the construction of a four-story apartment building and an outbuilding.

The four-story tenement building, built according to the design of architect N.I. Zherikhov, occupied most of the newly formed property and its entire width along Ostozhenka Street. Each floor of the building housed two apartments with various utility rooms. On the ground floor on the street side there were shops, on the courtyard side – apartments.

Completed works:

Development of scientific and design documentation for restoration of facades, roof repair, reconstruction of filling of window and door openings in public areas. Based on historical and archival materials.
