Cultural heritage site of regional significance “Monument erected in honor of the 600th anniversary of the city of Kaluga”,
address: Kaluga Region, Kaluga, Gagarin Street

Description:
The monument to the 600th anniversary of Kaluga is located on a hill descending to the bank of the Oka. The chosen location makes it possible to contemplate it from the opposite bank.
The advantageous location of the complex makes it noticeable when entering the historical part of the city from various directions, which in turn makes the monument a kind of landmark, as if emphasizing its importance for the city.
This architectural and artistic complex was installed in 1971-1977. Below is a cube made of red granite with a relief image of the scientist K.E. Tsiolkovsky and five more bas-reliefs reflecting certain stages in the history of Kaluga and the region. The monument was made according to the project of L.S. Kerbel and architects V.N. Datyuk, E.I. Kireev and P.T. Perminov.
