Local cultural heritage site “House of V.I. Sokolov”, last third of the 19th century.

Description:
In pre-revolutionary times, Voskresenskaya was called Bolshaya Moskovskaya. The Kaluga elite, famous merchants and industrialists settled here. In the Soviet years, Voskresenskaya was renamed into a street named after Sofya Perovskaya, a Russian terrorist, one of the leaders of the “Narodnaya Volya”. The development of this street is Nikitinskaya, that is, Pyotr Romanovich Nikitin, our first architect, we can say that he stood at the origins of the creation of modern historical Kaluga. He took part in the development of facade projects, house plans.
The Sokolovs were hereditary Kaluga residents. Relatives on the father’s and mother’s side lived and worked in Kaluga and other district towns of the province.
At the moment, the house is used as a middle-class apartment building.
