Kaluga, Gostinoryadsky lane, 2г. Калуга, пер. Гостинорядский, д. 2
A cultural heritage site of regional significance “Residential building, early 19th century”
Description:
The house was built, judging by its stylistic features, in the first third of the 19th century. For almost a century it was owned by the Svechnikov family of Kaluga burghers. Thus, from the 1830s to the 1870s it was owned by Anna Afanasyevna Svechnikova. Until 1838, the property was located at the address: 1st part, 1st block, No. 221, in the second half of the century: 1st part, 2nd block, No. 42. In 1832, the estate was valued at 2,500 rubles, and in 1876 – only 500 rubles.
The building of the residential building at the address Gostinoryadsky, 2 is an example of ordinary buildings in the historical part of Kaluga. The building is an integral part of the urban fabric of old Kaluga.
A few words should be said about the urban fabric. The urban composition of any city is created not only from the dominant dominants and significant urban nodes, but also from the so-called urban fabric. The fabric of the city is ordinary civil buildings that form the main development of the city. The buildings that make up the fabric of the city represent the urban body of any city and form its special, specific atmosphere. This is especially true for an ancient city such as Kaluga.
At the end of the 19th century, the house belonged to Alexandra Vasilievna Svechnikova.
Apparently, in the pre-revolutionary years, the house was sold to Maslova M.G., from whom it was municipalized in 1920. To this day, it is part of the housing stock.
